Hubby and I are big fans of word games. When we get the Scrabble board out (we actually bought the deluxe edition with the rotating board), watch out. Teeth are bared, claws unsheathed, and fur flies.
Hubby has a special talent for making the most of the double or triple word or letter tiles and I usually throw up my hands in frustration when I see what he's come up with.
Scattergories is another of our favorites. Hubby can always come up with the best answers. I still remember one of his off-the-wall answers. If you're not familiar with this game, you roll the dice to get a letter, and then you must answer the topics using words that start with that letter. For example, if you roll a "N" and the topic is "Things you find in the kitchen", then you could use "nuts." Anyway, hubby had to answer the topic, "Things you find at the bottom of the ocean." The letter was "M." And what did he come up with? "Mobsters." Yeah, he's talented. :-)
This game looks like it might be next on our list. I have a feeling he's going to be pretty creative with it, too.
On Editing...
I fired up the laptop last night and tackled the editing. Had a blast and wish I could have had the rest of the night to work on it. But hubby got out the Scrabble board...

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...
Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...

All right. Enough with the down-in-the dumps posts. I realized that I had way too many of them in the past few weeks and I am bumming myself...
We love Balderdash. Don't actually own the game, but we do love to play it. Hmmmm. Maybe we should acquire it :-) We've played it just using the dictionary as well. YBS DOES sound like fun
ReplyDeleteBut our fave board game remains Trivial Pursuit.
Our favorite is Cranium. It's a combination scrabble, trivial pursuit, charades, drawing (what's that game called?) and play-doh. Oh and you get to hum sometimes. It's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteMy MIL is a Scrabble Shark. :D
LOL Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Scrabble and other word games. Only trouble is nobody else in my family is keen on them :-( (such sour losers ;-))
Sue :-)
SW - I don't think I've ever heard of that game. Will have to check it out, though.
ReplyDeleteI can't get my family to play games, so I play by myself on the computer. Spider Solitaire and Poppit are my faves. But beware! They're addictive.
ReplyDeleteHaven't played in an age! Not even sure we have full sized scrabble. Maybe I'll get DH one for Christmas. Love boggle too :)
ReplyDeleteWe haven't played board games in a while, but Scrabble is fun! So is Boggle and we used to play Balderdash. Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI love Scrabble - I used to play it w/ my mom but we haven't brought that out in soooo long.
ReplyDeleteBalderdash is a great game, and all you need is dictionaries, pencils, and paper. We'll have to play that in Wilber, Melissa! And Scrabble, too. We've also got the deluxe rotating board, but we don't play often enough. Guess I should step away from the laptop once in a while...:D
ReplyDeleteI love Scrabble too. I have computer versions for my desktop, laptop and palmtop but don't seem to have a board game version. We do love Trivial Pursuit, and we have computer and real versions of that.
