Ellis Island

Every once in awhile, I'll become consumed with researching my family history. We're Italian and if you're ever interested, you can check out my Italian family photos at my website (which isn't really an OFFICIAL website, just sort of an experimental template I used for awhile) here:

If you haven't yet heard, Ellis Island has a searchable list of those who came through Ellis Island. I found both of my great-grandparents' names on the ship's manifest and ordered them, then framed them for my grandfather. It's an enduring record for my family. If you haven't checked it out, I encourage you to do so! www.ellisisland.org

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I teach about Ellis Island and it's fascinating stuff! Must remember to look up my husband's family. :)

  2. I don't think any of my family came through Ellis Island. They all crawled out from under rocks at the appropriate time.

You're into genealogy too! Neato! Anyway, Ellis Island doesn't do me any good since my last immigrant came in during the potato famine and all of the rest came here before the Revolutionary War. But I would still like to visit it sometime.

  5. That is so cool to have found that! My Dad and grandfather researched ours and found out we were related to the Earl of Hay in Scotland. I keep thinking one of these days I'm going to show up at Slains Castle as a poor relation...

  6. My #1 fan is really into family research. He's traced his family back pretty far. In fact, they're related distantly to Robert the Bruce (from Braveheart), if I'm not mistaken.

His ancestors are Scottish. Mine are German.
