Last Day of Summer

Today is the last official day of summer. It's supposed to top 94 degrees. Grrr....that doesn't make me happy.

BUT

I'm happy to report that tomorrow's forecast looks much better. Chance of thunderstorms and 72 degrees. Ahhhh. Breathe a large sigh of relief. I can look forward to snuggling under the blankets at night, shivering when I walk outside in the morning, and throwing on a jacket for an evening walk.

And all this cool weather gets me in the mood to write!

  1. Melissa - Unlike you, I'm sad to see summer go *sigh*. It's my fave season. Now if winter only lasted two months, it might be ok, but here it can last up to six months! And every year I hate it more. Then again, this is my last winter in the land of snow and freezing rain, so I won't complain. Much *g*.

  2. It's only supposed to get up to 21 here today...which translated I think is 72. The blue sky is battling with the dark storm clouds and seems to be winning which is nice. I love this time of year!

I am NOT looking forward to icy roads, digging my car out from under two feet of snow, bundling up in coats and mitts. Nope, give me heat as long as possible!!

  4. It was hot here today but the night is cool. We don't get cold winters per se. I will be looking forward to cooler weather, even the rain.

  6. Ugh! Winter is not for the fainthearted up north! Melissa you are very strange :) I love the summer but hate the bugs, August and September have been glorious here in Manitoba, wonderful and warm and dry. We got the wood in so I feel prepared for winter, but I'm about to order fleece lined jeans for DH and dog walking duties--assuming we're staying of course :)

  7. I like the way Tess thinks... We lived in Fargo, ND for NINE months and it was the longest nine months of my life and I carried twins full term! From October to July is was chilly. I had had enough and was soooo ready to move. Iowa was a huge improvement in the winter department, thank God. When we did move to Iowa it was July and the hubby and I were the only ones on the golf course in 104 degree weather. It must have been the Texan in us that could take it.

I too love the crisp air of fall and seeing the leaves turn colors. Expanding the wardrobe is always a plus, too. One day you can wear shorts, the next pants... it's nice.

  8. Nebraska winters can be brutal. I don't think I'd like to live in it more than I already do, so Fargo and Canada are not on my top ten places to live! LOL I do get sick of winter after January, though. I'm ready for spring then.
