Well. Moving day has come and gone. My new apartment is beautiful. I love, love, LOVE it. The only problem? It's on the third floor. And there is no elevator.
So! That means lots and lots of stairs. And when you're moving tons of stuff, those stairs are not your friend. You stand at the bottom of the staircase, look up, and groan. But there's nothing to be done but start climbing. And I climbed those stairs a LOT the past two days.
On the bright side, stair-climbing is one of the best exercises for your heart. And let me tell you, my heart was pumping away numerous times. And since I now have to climb those stairs every day, my heart can only love me for it, right? :-)

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...
Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...

I just finished reading Stieg Larsson's The Girl who Played with Fire . This is the second book in the series and features the character...

All right. Enough with the down-in-the dumps posts. I realized that I had way too many of them in the past few weeks and I am bumming myself...
Right! And no need to join a gym or walk in inclement weather. :)
ReplyDeleteWatch those stairs when they get icy. Sliding down will be much worse than climbing them.
ReplyDeleteStairs are great exercise. I take them whenever I can. Best wishes in your new home :)

ReplyDeleteOops. See what all that stair talk did? Doubled the fun here.
ReplyDeleteHa! As Travis said, watch when they get icy. :o)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you LOVE your new apartment.
I know what you mean about stairs. We moved from a bungalow to this three-storey place and my knees took about 3 months to recover. But yes, your heart will love you!
So pleased you're so happy in your new apartment.
ReplyDeleteThe stairs are brilliant exercise, but I wouldn't fancy carrying boxes up them though. I remember doing that (one flight only though) a few years ago and it was exhausting.
I love the red, white, and blue colors of your blog!! Stop by The Serenity Gate when you get a chance. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I live in a third floor walk-up, too.
ReplyDeleteBut it sure keeps me fit!
(((Mel))) the new apartment sounds wonderful, but I'm sad for you too. Best wishes, T.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you love your new place! That will make this change so much easier!!! Thank you for keeping up your blog as you transition!
ReplyDeleteGlad you love your new place! Our Love Nest is on the 3rd floor with no elevator either. Sucks!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that you love your new home. I hope it will continue to be a huge blessing to you through this time of transition.
ReplyDeleteAngie - Actually, I'm going to join a gym anyway. I used to belong to Curves, but when I changed jobs, I wasn't close to it anymore. But my apartment complex is right down the road, so I can't wait to join again!
ReplyDeleteTravis - Thankfully, those stairs won't be icy since they're inside. :-)
Joanne - You're right. Stairs ARE great exercise. And it's exercise that I will have to take every day. That's definitely a GOOD thing!
Shirley - My legs were sore for a few days, but I think they're acclimated to it. :-)
Debs - Fortunately, I had lots of people help me move, so I didn't have to carry too much stuff. But it was exhausting all the same!
Barbara - Thanks for stopping by! Glad you like the colors of the blog. As a little tidbit of info, all the pictures at the top are of my relatives. :-)
Devon - It will definitely help keep me fit! That and joining Curves should help me shed a few pounds.
Toni - Thanks. :-)
Terri - Oh, I do love it so much. I love the view at night, I love my fireplace, and I love the peace I'm experiencing right now, too.
Kacey - I read that on your blog, that your love nest was on the third floor and what a pain it was to move into. I now know exactly what you mean!
Linda - Thank you for your kind words. :-)
Oh yes, Melissa - think of that "muffin top". It'll go soon enough with so many flights of stairs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the new home and new situation. Don't forget to let me have your new address.
That's right :) I remember helping Sean move in and out of an apartment with one very tall flight of very steep stairs - man, what a workout!
ReplyDeleteGlad your move went well and just think, you probably lost at least a couple of pounds in the process.
I'm glad they're inside! My dad broke his ankle horribly carrying my daughter down our apartment stairs! But, yes, they are great exercise!
ReplyDeleteYo! I did 15 flights today! Wasn't fun at all!
ReplyDeleteYo! I did 15 flights today! Wasn't fun at all!
ReplyDeleteOh, and once I broke my arm running up the stairs. Wasn't fun either!
ReplyDeleteDiane - Will send you my new addy straight away. And yes, the "muffin top" is powerful motivation!
ReplyDeleteRobin - I'm glad they're inside, too. I once lived in an apartment where the stairs were outside and it was dangerous during the winter.
You're just a glutton for punishment, Calfee. ;-)
we live on the 3rd floor too. I DREAD coming home from the grocery store and lugging all that stuff up those stairs because there is no way I want to make 2 trips!
ReplyDeleteHeather - Oh, I know. It makes me want to buy less groceries at the store!
