Slight change in plans. I won't be attending the Pikes Peak Writer's Conference (sorry, Lisa! But maybe we can still meet someday - after all, Nebraska and Colorado are neighbors!) and a trip I had planned to Hawaii has been put on hold.
So! I think I need to take a vacation somewhere this year - but where?
Northern Italy to visit the relatives...lovely England to visit friends and soak in the sights...Colonial Williamsburg to immerse myself in history...Washington D.C. to visit the World War II memorial and all the other wonderful national treasures...
Decisions, decisions! Of course, with the price of gas going up, that means airplane tickets will be more expensive and that might limit my choices. But goodness, I can't let it stop me! I figure I have plenty of time to save up if I want to go on a vacation say, in the fall months when it's not hot and most of the tourists are back home.
Help me decide!

BC is nice in July and August :) Not a HUGE amount of history, but lots of lovely sights! *g*
ReplyDeleteMy vacation starts tomorrow. Nine glorious days off from work, but I'm not roaming far. To Dallas for three days and then back home to write and do a few honey-dos.
ReplyDeleteTess - It does look absolutely gorgeous there! Someday...
ReplyDeleteTravis, enjoy your time off! I've taken vacations where I've stayed home and done nothing but putter around and write. Glorious. But it's been far too long since I've gone on a TRUE vacation, so this time I'm hoping I can do it.
Europe! Definitely. So worth it!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Europe too. Although New England in the fall is spectacular too...
ReplyDeleteEll and Lisa, I think you're right - Europe!!! Now if I can just scrape up enough cash...
ReplyDeleteI third that notion! Rome in the fall...*heart skips a beat* Bellissima!
ReplyDeleteItaly and England would be my first choices, especially if there are people with whom you can stay. But the dollar is very weak right now overseas, so spending money will be difficult. However, if you do decide to go somewhere within the US, why not take the train? You can get 14 and 30 day passes that are cheaper than most of the round trips and maybe combine some of your US destinations. Both Hotels.com and local chamber of commerce have good deals on decent places to stay that won't break your budget.
ReplyDeleteGo to San Fransisco for the RWA national conference. Hope up to Napa for a bit... Fun!
ReplyDeleteThough Europe does sound like fun...
Christine - Believe it or not, I've never had the desire to go to Rome. Instead, it's been sunny Tuscany or northern Italy. But I'd take Rome right now, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteDevon, great idea! I took the train once from Denver to California and it was a very neat experience.
Kacey - Sorry, no RWA conferences for me, but I know you'll be going - have fun!
Nova Scotia is lovely in the summertime and autumn, but I'm packing a bag and heading for Paris!
ReplyDeleteShould I prepare the guest room?
ReplyDeleteI may take a side trip to Paris, Kelly. ALWAYS wanted to go there, too!
ReplyDeleteDiane, I would LOVE to visit you!!! I'll definitely keep you up-to-date on my plans!
ITALY ITALY ITALY!!!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to go! Go for me and scout out all the best places to stay and the best wine to drink!!
Unfortunately my Tuscan villa will have to reside in the recesses of my imagination until we finish construction on our new home, then we'll be paying it off...so I guess the lake in Northern Ontario will have to suffice for now. Not a bad second choice either. Of course I do live in Bermuda...
Sorry.
Hey you could always visit Bermuda!! It's paradise on earth, seriously!
Bermuda? Wow, Catherine, what a cool place to live! I think I could visit, but probably not live there - too hot! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's between Italy and England at this point...
Well I'd say Italy for a vacation. England to go home :)
ReplyDeleteI think the winner is Italy!
