It's the Sacrifices

So I'm dragging a bit at work today. I've only had one Diet Pepsi, but that may change.

The reason? Why, lack of sleep, of course. My resolve to meet my deadline for my novel edits had me at the computer at 11 p.m. last night. And my fingers were flying. In fact, when I finished, my arms hurt. (Of course, I'm doing my edits on my laptop which does not have a handy split keyboard).

But I was quite pleased with what I'd accomplished.

And I can't wait to get to it tonight.

What sacrifices do you make for your writing?

  1. I often forget to eat. And sometimes don't get outside much to exercise. But I try not to let that happen.

  2. I guess giving up housework isn't really a sacrifice, is it? I think STUFF always gets in the way. It will always be there. You just have to decide whether the STUFF or the writing wins.

  3. First, Happy Anniversary!

Second, don't worry about abusing the caffeine, temporarily at least. There are far worse things. :)

I'm excited for your progress (and so glad things are getting back in balance for you)!

  4. Good luck hitting your editing deadline. I'd pass you a Diet Mountain Dew if you drank them ;)

  6. None.... good point. If I want to be a writer, I need to write. And that might mean sacrificing something to achieve my goal.

I can sacrifice websurfing and eating junk food at night. I can sacrifice reading three newspapers. I can sacrifice the five magazines I also read.

  7. Sleep would be my sacrifice too. I've tried everything else and I keep getting distracted. So night times I'll stay up late and get it finished, but I'll often have a lie in the next day to compensate.
