All Grown Up

My two stepsons are home. One is 18, the other is 16. And they're both a lot taller than I remember.

Christmas, 2004
My oldest will be a senior in the fall. He has already received letters from colleges for both baseball and football. The 16-year-old will be a junior and starts in football and basketball. Gah! Where did the time go???

June, 2011 -
Please excuse my hubby's dirty shirt. He was working in the garage when I snapped this photo!
I went and bought groceries Saturday and boy, was my cart full. I don't even want to tell you how much I spent! But teenage boys eat a lot.

It's been lots of fun having them home. They'll be here through the 4th of July, so we're going to enjoy their time with us!

But I must say, I feel pretty short when I'm next to them! ;-)

  2. It's amazing how fast time goes by ... My youngest just graduated college last month, yikes! It seems like she was just in grammar school.

    Enjoy your week :)

  3. WOW! They did shoot up!! I bet they do eat like crazy. Remember those days of having teen guy friends. They almost ate my mom into the poor house! ;) Good looking family, though!

  4. Valeria - Yep - all three of 'em are swell-looking! The two younger ones, though, like to drench themselves in cologne. Must be a teenage thing! ;-)

Joanne - College graduation? Oh dear. I'm certainly not ready for that! My daughter starts middle school in the fall and I'm already dreading it!

Colene - Oh yes. They eat and eat and EAT! lol

  7. Oh, wonderful! I love having family around for long weekends. Makes it even more special. I know about the groceries - I have two brothers and yup when I'm home and we're all in the same kitchen - things get crazy. Fun though. Wouldn't change it for the world!:)

  8. Janna - Thank you! It's been fun!

    Christine - Yep, very proud!

Talei - It's weird. I don't remember my own brothers eating this much, but I'm guessing they probably did!

  9. Hi Melissa,

I've been reflecting a lot lately on how the years have whizzed by. My oldest daughter is expecting her first baby, and it seems like just the other day she was an infant. And my son is a proud papa now, and I love being a grandma, but it blows my mind that time passes so darn fast!

  10. Having two teenage boys, I feel your pain with the groceries and they're both taller than me now. Scarey.

  13. I'm right there with you! Only my daughter is shorter than me and soon that will change. *sigh* It goes way too fast.

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
