Reading

(Books at the Chatsworth library, England)

Simple and short post today.

What are you reading?

Here's what I'm currently perusing:

Devil May Care: The New James Bond Novel by Sebastian Faulks

The Summer of 1787: The Men who Invented the Constitution
by David O. Stewart.

Your turn!

  1. A light and quirky read called The Mile-High Hair Club; the author's name escapes me right now. It's decent, but it's been messing with my dreams, making me think I'm writing IT, and not my WIP.

  2. I'm being given the newest Jodi Pecault book this weekend! Can't wait!

  3. I'm reading Jodi Picoult's very first book "Songs of the Humpback Whale". BTW I have some pictures very similar to the one you posted today that I took in England as well. The one I'm thinking of was in Belvoir Castle. You've inspired me...I'm going to have to post one soon!

  4. Having just read David Nobbs' brilliant "Going Gently", I'm now on his "Sex and Other Changes", another wonderfully funny book.

Sometimes, I need to forget murder and mayhem and read something fun and lighthearted. :o)

  6. On page 2 of newest B&N shopping spree stack (say that 3X real fast) - The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I think this is her debut novel.

  7. Just finished Phillipa Gregory's The Boleyn Inheritance (why is it that no one ever writes novels about Anne of Cleves? She makes a lovely character, kudos to Phillipa!)

Now I'm reading Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, which won a major YA fiction prize this year--and from what I've read so far, totally deserved it.

Also reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman. That guy can do spooky like nobody else!

  8. I'm reading One with the Shadows by Susan Squires and Small Favor (Dresden Files) by Jim Butcher.

  9. I'm reading a YA book called "Bras and Broomsticks" - can you guess what it's about? My next book, I'm pretty sure is a YA novel so I want to immerse myself in that stuff. And this is different from Twilight. It's like chick-lit for teens. Cute, doesn't keep me from putting it down, but my daughter loved the whole series.

  10. My son bought me that book for Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm reading, The Secret Life of Evie Hamilton by Catherine Alliott and loving that too.

  11. I've been reading a lot of classic lit lately as research for my WIP. I just finished George Orwell's Animal Farm, and I'm currently reading 1984. Oldies but goodies!

  12. I'm reading a historical fiction called The Cosgrove Report about the Pinkerton Detective's search for John Wilkes Booth. Also, a non-fiction account of the building of the railroad called Empire Express, and a book on theology called The Difficult Doctrine of the Love of God by D.A. Carson.

    Whew!

  14. I'm reading The Guermantes Way, by Marcel Proust. It's the 3rd book in the novel, In Search of Lost Time. I am taking way too long to finish this one!

    Dearest Meliss,

I'm in Phoenix right now, and have finally been trying to catch up with my blogging, so I just read the news about your ex. I am so sorry to hear this. Just remember you are loved (by me and by many). I'll try to keep in better touch.

  17. Wow, it is neat to see the variety of books and interests!

Just started Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund.

Also reading: Great Short Stories by American Women; Writing Begins with the Breath.

Just picked up The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman today (author of Coraline).

  19. Ummm, at the risk of sounding not quite as savvy as you guys, I'll admit to wading up to my varicose veins in "We're Just Like You Only Prettier" by Celia Rivenbark. My laugh lines now cover almost as much territory as my cellulite. Almost.
