Dreaming of Vacation

Winston Churchill's Home
It's been over two years since I last went on a "proper" vacation. I went to England by myself and had a fabulous time (except for that whole food poisoning thing...).

The England trip was the last time I was on a plane, and as summer starts creeping closer, I am getting the itch to travel again.

Only the money just isn't there. Big sigh...

There is a possibility of a trip to New Orleans to visit the National World War II Museum this winter with my two brothers and my dad, but that isn't for awhile, and isn't even confirmed yet.

So I've been daydreaming of where I might like to go. Some of my top picks include:

1) Northern Italy to visit my relatives
2) Germany
3) England (I could go here every year and be happy!)
4) Colonial Williamsburg
5) Washington, D.C.

If you could take a vacation right now, where would you go? And if you already have vacation plans, where are you headed?

  1. I've just returned from Sorrento and will ge travelling to Paris in a few weeks, so am in the middle of a wonderful travelling period. I would love to go to New Zealand one day though, I'm sure it's very beautiful there.

  3. Though it's a big and beautiful world, I'm happy to go to the little CT beach I've spent time at every summer of my life. The charming cottages, big old boardwalk, Long Island Sound, swans and herons ... All of it somehow transports me away to a peaceful place.

  4. Melissa-right now I think I'd have to choose Hastings! I read somewhere that it still looks very similar to the way it did during the war:)

  7. Joanne - It sounds wonderful. I admit, I'm not a beach person, but if it wasn't too hot and I could have nice, cool ocean breezes, I just might like it!

Valerie - We do need to plan a trip!!! And I'll tell you about the food poisoning incident sometime...it was one of the worst moments of my life.

    Patti - Agreed. :-)

  9. Planning and dreaming of your next trip is always fun. We are headed to Texas in Sept to get in on some ranch tours cowboy style. I'm reading a book now that makes me want to drive through and visit the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Friends that we met on the cruise in February invited us to share a condo with them in Hawaii next Feb, so we are thinking about that. And the list goes on. . . .

  13. Mom - We need to start planning a trip to England! I know you will just love it. :-)

Anna - I went on a trip to New Orleans when I was in college - we drove from northwest Nebraska all the way to New Orleans! We stopped in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Loved it!

  14. I, too, could probably visit the UK every year and be perfectly happy. It's such a lovely country. Heck, I'd be content only going to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District!

Sadly (but not uncommonly) money is tight now so I'll probably just be staying close to home this summer.
