Are You Ready?

If you're an unpublished writer, are you ready to be published?

And if you are a published writer, were you ready to be published when the call came?

I've done a lot of soul searching over the past few months over whether or not I'm "ready" for this to happen. Honestly, I don't know how anyone can be completely, 100% ready for everything that is thrown their way when the publishing contract finally arrives. There are edits to make, marketing decisions to pour over, angst over reviews, publicity rounds, and of course, the whole writing the next book.

For me, I know at one point I wasn't ready. At all.

But now I think I am.

 Let me modify that.

I am as ready as I'll ever be.

You?

  9. Great question! I'm still finishing my first WIP so in two words my answer has to be 'not yet.' *deep sigh* I'm very keen to get to the next phase but for now its one careful step at a time. ;)

  11. I think you're right, Melissa...I think one can't ever be 100% ready, because that means we'd be able to see the future and everything it would bring.

But there's definitely a point at which the writing quality is there, the book is there, we've been learning about the industry and we know we're as ready as we're ever going to be.

I'm glad you're there! Fingers crossed for you!

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
