Your Favorite Summer Treat

I am not a fan of summer, but I do enjoy the tasty treats available during this time of the year. Last week I made a triple berry pie out of fresh raspberries, straweberries, and blueberries and it was yummy delicious. I've also found some sweet ice cream treats that are sugar free and (mostly) fat free that will satisfy my diet requirements as well as my sweet tooth.

Thanks to Minute Maid's Light Lemonade, I can also enjoy my favorite summer drink without packing on the pounds!

What's your favorite summer treat?

  1. Gotta be frozen pina colados and meat right off the grill. A great combo.

  2. We don't have a grill this year and so can't cook anything. A pity, because there's nothing like a grilled hamburger to tell you that summer is here!

  3. This will sound weird and not very treat-like, but I love farm-fresh cuccumbers marinated in vinegar, oil and other spices. Very summery to me.

  4. My favorite are the veggies grown in our raised beds: basil (mmm, pesto!), tomatoes, and best of all the artichokes. I LOVE artichokes. We didn't think we'd get any this year because the winter snow really whomped our plant...but I just looked, and there's one brave little artichoke forming! I'm already planning on eating him with melted butter, corn on the cob, and steak grilled rare.

  5. Gingerella - Oh, that doesn't sound weird at all! My favorite summer salad is cucumber, tomato, and green pepper in vinegar and oil. YUM.

Christine - Y'know, I don't think I've ever had an artichoke! But you make it sound pretty darn good!

  6. I'm not a great fan of summer either. At the moment we have a heavy grey sky, no sun whatsoever and it's hot and horrid.
However, I seem to be living on strawberries and ice cream at the moment. Can't get enough of them. :)

  7. I've just finished a bowl of husband's blackcurrent & apple crumble with Jersey cream! No wonder I don't lose any weight.

  8. Shirley - Oooh, strawberries! How I love them, but strangely, cannot handle them with ice cream. I think it had to do with a childhood incident where I, er, upchucked some strawberry ice cream. *grin*

Ok, Debs, that just sounds HEAVENLY.

  9. Hawaiian Shave Ice. They have a place here that tries to mimic it and they do a pretty good job. I think I will head over there for a lunch snack :)

  11. Hi Tamika! So glad to see you back! Missed your posts. :-) I admit, I'm not a huge BBQ fan, but once in awhile, it's good stuff.

  14. Heather - I will have to try that!

Joanne - Ah, chocolate ice cream. You're right - doesn't matter what season it is - it's always good!

Billy - I'll take your word for it. I'm not a mint fan. ;-)

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
