A Decade

My little girl turns 10 years old today.

We've traded pigtails and velcro shoes for long, straight hair and colorful Converse sneakers. But we've still got the stuffed dog.
And really, that's ok. When I see girls just a year older than her wearing make-up and short-shorts and too-tight tops, I thank God that my little girl is still a little girl. I'm not in any hurry for her to grow up.

Happy birthday, precious girl!

  1. Happy birthday to your daughter! And kudos to you as her mom ... it's so refreshing to see a young girl just immersed in and loving childhood, the innocence of play and imagination, the fun of easy times. Enjoy her day :)

  2. Happy Birthday, girl, and many, many more! My daughters wear Converse also. They think your hat and Bolt are cool, too. : ) Eat lots of cake.

  3. Joanne - Oh, I hope she decides to stay a kid for a long, long time. I'm hopeful that not having cable and exposing her to commercials and ridiculous shows will help. :-)

Thanks, Rebecca! That Bolt dog goes with us everywhere...

They do grow fast! Enjoy all the moments. Each stage is special, just different, I find.

  14. What a gorgeous daughter you have. Very Happy Birthday to her (sorry to be belated in my wishes).

They grow up so quickly. My daught is nearly 16 and I still find it strange to think that she's now taller than me.
