Extended Break
This blog has been quiet. That's ok. I'm writing, and my novel needs to take precedence.
To tell you the truth, I'm severely burned out on the whole blogging business. I need an extended break. I know last time that break only lasted a few days. But this time...this time it's going to be longer - unless I have some very pertinent news to share.
I've been blogging for five years and it now feels like a chore. I don't want that. So I'm signing off for now.
Until next time!

I've Been Quiet
It's been quiet on ye olde blog.
Why?
Well, I've been writing the novel. And thinking about the novel. And getting lightning bolt ideas about the novel. And falling asleep listening to my characters chatter in my ear.
It's glorious.
So the blog must suffer for my other creative endeavor who currently holds my heart.
That is how it must be.
How are your writing projects coming?

What Writing Connections Do You Make?
I've been blogging for around five years now. In that time, I've connected with a plethora of amazing, talented writers. I've even met some in person - here in America and overseas! The Internet has opened up an incredible new world for us.
In that same vein, I also caved to joining Facebook about a year ago after resisting it for so long. Not only have I re-connected with so, so many friends from high school, college, and past jobs (which has been pretty darn neat), but I've also been able to connect with other writers.
Just yesterday, I decided to join an online writing forum, AbsoluteWrite. I haven't been involved with an online writing forum for years. But after browsing through this community and finding so much support from its members, I decided to take the plunge.
What do I hope to achieve with all these writing connections? Numerous things including friendship, community, and support. But what I'm hoping to do now is find accountability and motivation. There's something to be said for seeing others continually work toward their goal. The writing forum I joined is great at that, and since I am in need of a bit of a push on that score, I joined. Plus, there are other like-minded writers, i.e. those who write during WW2, that is also a plus.
However, I do not want these connections to take place of the actual writing. That's why I'm hoping I can limit myself. My best writing time is in the evening, after work, and since I've spent nearly all day in front of a computer at the day job, staying away from the computer at home isn't that hard.

A Decade
My little girl turns 10 years old today.
We've traded pigtails and velcro shoes for long, straight hair and colorful Converse sneakers. But we've still got the stuffed dog.
And really, that's ok. When I see girls just a year older than her wearing make-up and short-shorts and too-tight tops, I thank God that my little girl is still a little girl. I'm not in any hurry for her to grow up.
Happy birthday, precious girl!

Mother's Day!
I was out of town for Mother's Day, but thankfully got to spend it with my daughter. That was the best gift of all! I was also fortunate enough to receive a few goodies, too. I got a very cool denim jacket and this:
My daughter and I had lunch, then went to an art museum. Perfection!
How was your Mother's Day?

Do You Journal?
I've journaled on and off for years. It's only been in the last few months that it's become a near-daily thing.
And, I admit, it's really fun to shop for journals. There are so many neat ones out there! This is the latest one I have:

It's become a place to unload my thoughts on just about anything: work, life, writing, relationships, family, and on and on. There's something about pouring it all out on the page that is incredibly therapeutic.
Do you journal? If you do, what does it look like?
