Profound, I Am Not

I know, I know. All the blog advice out there tells you to have profound, timely blog posts that engage your audience and keep them coming back day after day.

Kitty has nothing profound to offer, either.
Well, I don't have a profound thought in my head today other than I'm hungry, I'm looking forward to lunch, and I could use a nap. (I guess that is more than one thought. But still, none of them are profound.)

Some days, I don't know how to put into words what I'm trying to say, so I just don't say it at all. I could attempt a post on how I've discovered my novel had a missing element (which, thankfully, I resolved) or how writing historical novels is a lot harder than contemporary for various reasons (one being the intense research), or how I have been faithfully working out for the past month (except for the days off for dental problems) and I haven't seen any results. But my brain isn't interested.

So today, I have nothing profound to share.

Don't hold it against me.

I do, however, have a reminder. The Writing Buddies Blog Carnival is coming up soon. Be sure to check out all the details here.

  2. Well, I'm feeling profoundly enlightened! ;) Totally know how you feel, don't worry - blogging is should be relaxing and fun, -the main thing is to write, right? I posted a Wordless Wednesday yesterday, its a good way to post without words too. ;) Hope your historical novel is coming along my dear!

  3. You know what Melissa-I didn't write for a long time because someone told me they didn't have time to read fluff like my blog. And then I realized that if I wrote what was true to myself, other people would read and like what I had to say-fluff or not. I am not profound either-but I try to be honest in my writing- if that makes sense. (Wow! WAS I profound just now?)

That being said-what to post on a blog is a lot like trying to figure out what to make for dinner-somedays we just don't know LOL!

Keep writing what you write-I love it:)

  4. Hi Myne! Thanks for dropping by! Hope you have a great day, too.
    :-)

Talei - Had a breakthrough on the novel, so now I need to do more research! It's ok - I love doing it.

Valerie - You and I are SO much alike. And yes, I'd say you had quite a profound thought! :-)

  5. I don't know Melissa, that photo looks like a lightbulb of an idea just came to kitty's thoughts. I'll bet it's a purr-found idea ;)

  6. Joanne, who KNOWS what is going on in that cat's mind! ;-)

  7. Bahaha!! You AND that cat are hilarious! I think...okay, being profound EVERY post makes me less inclined to come back...maybe I'm a weirdo or something but I like a little humanity in my blog stalking every now and again! So, I loved this one!

  8. Ha... I don't do profound. If I ever say anything that sounds remotely so it is, believe me, a complete accident. All I can think about at this particular moment in time is that I am totally wrecked from my Pilates class!!! Profound, huh? Love your blog. :)

  9. "tells you to have profound, timely blog posts that engage your audience and keep them"

What? You mean we're supposed to be profound? And timely?

  10. You're not the only one :)

I agree with you about the difficulty of writing an historical novel and although I knew it would be harder than writing a contemporary one, I didn't realize quite how much more complex it would be.

  11. Colene - I really liked what you said, that seeing the humanity in people through their blog posts is also something we need, too. Brilliant! You will see a lot of humanity in my blog...hahaha!

Erin - I've read some great stuff at your blog...dare I say profound? ;-) I think we are sometimes profound when we don't even realize it!

Midlife - Haha! Yeah, timely isn't on my radar, either. I post when I want to anymore.

Debs - I really enjoy the research behind the historical novels, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed with it. Still, I wouldn't have it any other way!

  12. Heck, images of cats are some of the most popular things on the internet. There can never be too many. (-:

  13. Randy! Are you back to blogging? Thanks for stopping by. True, there can never be too many cat pics, I suppose.

  14. I concur, sometimes I can't think of anything profound to say, but having a nap sounds really good right now.

  15. Patti - Since I'm stuck at work and it's looking like it will be a long afternoon, a nap sounds good to me, too!
