The Dream Job

I've gone through several phases in my search for the dream job. I thought perhaps a career in the museum world would fit me, and even went to job shadow at my local museum. Now I have no interest in it.

I've thought about working for a university press and editing historical manuscripts or working at Colonial Williamsburg as a costumed interpretor. But neither one really gets my juices flowing largely because 1) I'd be stuck behind a computer 8-5 for that editing job and 2) I'm not the greatest around strangers.

So what's my ideal job?

The same it's been for the last 20 years (and no, I'm not kidding): being a published novelist.

What about you?

  1. Sounds good to me too. Although librarian would be good in order to get out some when not writing.

  2. You know what? I'm gonna have to share your answer. But I think bounty hunter would be a close second.

That's my ideal job, too. Well, aside from being a mommy. ;)

I'd like to be in a place where 'job' is a word exited from my vocabulary. Instead it would be 'living' every moment, being, experiencing, and sustaining a life style that keeps the juices flowing.

Thinking about it more, yes I'd say mine is the same as yours!

  6. Yep, you said it. Followed closely by musical theater. :)

  7. I need a day job to keep me grounded (not to mention paying the bills.) But I'd like one with less stress!

Isn't it funny that we're still deciding what we want to be when we grow up? Well, not really--most of us know what we want to be, but either the road is so, so long, or even when we get there we can't make enough to support ourselves.

Reality. Who needs it? I think I'll go read a novel. :)
