One Lousy Paragraph...

Ok. It was a little more than a paragraph. But that's all I wrote last night - about 1/4 of a page. And it happened when I finally had time to sit down and work on it.

The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.

When school starts, maybe, maybe it will slow down. We've got to go shopping for school supplies this weekend, there are open houses to attend on Monday night, and then the "big day" is on Wednesday. Back to normalcy!

And I also hope that it will be back to some regular blogging. I see my visitors have dropped off a bit lately. That's either because a) I'm boring or b) people are busy. Maybe both. Heh.

I think after everything that has happened in my life lately, I need a "me" day. Is that being selfish? I'd love to just go somewhere - even a hotel - and just write all day long. Lounge around. Take a nap. Not worry about puppy poop or rowdy teenagers or cooking or cleaning. Too much to ask?

I may ask anyway. Ha!

  1. A 'me' day sounds wonderful. Ask away. :o)

Enjoy that puppy. As much as I love our two dogs, I would love a puppy. They're such fun. Hard work, but fun.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. 1/4 page is still better than nothing :)

I still can't get used to school starting in August. We never used to start until after Labour Day, though occasionally my nephews and nieces do go back right at the end of Aug.

My visitors too have dropped off lately. Way off. Either that, or my posts are so boring, they're not commenting.

  3. Shirley - I think I may ask my hubby tonight. :-)

Tess - you're right, 1/4 page is better than nothing!

I love checking into a hotel to write.

Sometimes, I like to be anonymous in a large, luxurious chain hotel and just get room service.

Sometimes, I prefer a quaint inn.

It's not selfish -- it's necessary. Writers need solitude, and everyone around us has to learn to deal. Period.

    Hi Melissa,

How's life treating you? Just checking in to read your blog and say hi.

  6. 1/4 page written is 1/4 page more than you had before. :) Anything to keep the neurons firing!

Fingers crossed you get your "me" day. And congrats on the new puppy! He sounds adorable. I know how much work they are, though!

As far as the drop in blog traffic, all I can say is, me too. Ah, well--everything slows down in August.

  7. Keep hammering away even if it is just a bit at a time.

  8. Devon - My hubby had to learn to deal last night when I shooed him out of our bedroom so I could write. Heh. It was good for him, though. Knows I mean business!

SW - Good to hear from you! Life has been...interesting, to say the least!

Christine - That's what I figure. A little bit is better than nothing! And the puppy wasn't exactly what I wanted at this point, but he's more the kids' dog than anything. I still like the little guy, but he's not my Charlie. :-(

Travis - A bit at a time is how novels are written, right? :-)

I love to hear from you!

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
