New Ventures

The new year will bring some exciting new ventures for me!

First, my non-fiction book on the World War II POW camps in Nebraska will be published this year. That's scary and exhilarating and very, very cool. I'm looking forward to that day, especially since I'm still in the midst of editing! But the end is in sight.

Second, I joined a new group blog for historical fiction writers of the twentieth century called The Modern Belles of History. We write Edwardian, World War I, World War II, the 1920s, the 1930s, etc. I'm quite excited. We plan to launch in mid-January, and there are three ways you can follow us:

1) Our blog, http://modernbellesofhistory.com/
2) Twitter @bellesofhistory
3) Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/bellesofhistory

And third, look for more reviews on my World War II blog, The Best of World War II. I have a lot of terrific books in my review pile and I can't wait to dive into them.

Do you have any new ventures you're planning to undertake this year?

  1. The new blog sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to reading it! I'm also looking forward to your book. Will I be able to get it in Illinois?

My only new venture is my website, which launched today. I'm proud to say I didn't crash the Internet!

  3. Would love to hear more about the historical fiction you are writing, but so excited about the coming up non-fiction publication! Are you working with an editor?

    1. Margo, I'm writing a WW2 novel set in Nebraska. I'm editing it right now and cannot wait to start in on it full-time! And yes, I'm working with an editor on the non-fiction book. She thankfully extended my deadline for me since I had mono late last year. It put me behind for about a month!

  4. *high five* Historical fiction is so challenging, but so amazing when done right. I don't think I could ever write about WWII -- I'd choke up every time I sat down to the keyboard -- but I love people who are up to the challenge.

    1. I love writing historical fiction - and yes, VERY challenging, especially when I want to make sure I get all the history right! WW2 can be difficult at times, for sure, but there are amazing stories of resilience and kindness and love for fellow human beings. Lots of great fodder for fiction writing!
