Remember Pearl Harbor - 70 Year Anniversary

Today is the 70th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor - December 7, 1941. That act sent us to war and became a rallying cry for our soldiers and our nation - Remember Pearl Harbor!

People wore pins.
This battle cry was also used in posters.

Stickers were put on cars.
In fact, the country was determined never to forget the men who lost their lives that day as they fought the long, grueling war ahead.

Seventy years later, we still remember.

  1. Melissa-what a beautiful tribute!

What really gets to me now, is that all these years later, some of the men who survived that day are requesting that after they pass away their ashes be scattered in Pearl Harbor-so that they can be forever with their buddies who died in the attack. That really gets to me, and here I go with the tears again:)

  2. Melissa, I'm so glad you wrote this post. We need to remember this day and all those who lost their lives and the impact it had on our country.

Thanks for sharing that link about the beautiful chest your mom made for you one Christmas. I'm adding that link in my post for this Friday. It ties in perfectly! Take care.

  3. I remembered this anniversary today. I'm not American, so don't have any relatives who were hurt or killed on that day, but it never ceases to affect me when I see films/documentaries about it.

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
