Which One Will You Feed?

A little something to think about...

A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt about a tragedy. He said, "I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one."

The grandson asked him, "Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?"

The grandfather answered, "The one I feed."

  3. I love this analogy. I can see my characters struggling with the same issues. Ok, me too sometimes ;)

  5. A beautiful lesson. I also feel the violent angry wolf should get a tight hug and something in the lines of "I know you are there and I acknowledge your existence, but there is no place for you in my heart". And then the other wolf gently sends the other one away as we feed him to get stronger and stronger to mark his territory...

  7. Melissa, as you know, I love dogs/canines - just 'adore' them. So I liked this analogy. Is it possible for the positive wolf to *feed* the *destructive* wolf inside of you? So that 'over time' the destructiveness is fed and nurtured with love and kindness..? (I'm just *thinking* openly here, over a cup of Joe!! :-)
