It's That Editing Thing

I'm going through my manuscript one final time - this time with paper and pen. I sat on the couch last night and went through a ton of pages and let me tell you - taking a week off from looking at the novel has done me a world of good. I'm not as close to it as I was, enabling me to see things I need to fix. When 11 p.m. rolled around, I was not happy. I was on a roll and I think I could have stayed up much later than that if only I didn't have to get up and go to work. :-)

I have my first diabetes teaching class tonight. I'm anxious to see what I can do to further my education of this disease and to keep myself from getting any complications. Of course, I'm sure they'll tell me that I can't gorge on chocolate chip cookie dough!!!

  1. Good luck with the edits. I know what you mean about not wanting to stop when you're on a roll. I love that feeling.

  2. Ok, the not gorging on chocolate chip cookie dough would be a given. Just don't tell 'em you did it. What they don't know won't hurt 'em. Right? ;)

I too print out my ms and go through it with a pen. I can 'see' it better that way.

  4. I'm really looking forward to getting back to my manuscript. It's been sitting in a corner waiting since November while I worked on the first draft of D&B. I'm hoping the time off will help me tighten up some areas and cut what I don't need.

  5. I'm with Dana - what they don't know won't hurt you. *gg* Actually, my uncle who has had diabetes his entire life says it doesn't hurt if you fall off every once in a while - emphasis on once in a while as long as you keep things in perspective.

Wonderful news about the writing - sometimes stepping back does work.
