Dude, Where's My Car?

Or more appropriately, where's my husband's SUV?

He woke up this morning to go to work - 5 a.m. - and came back in a few minutes later and said, "Someone stole my truck!" (I always tell him it's a SUV - Ford Explorer - but he insists it's a truck.)

Yup. Someone smashed the glass in his front window, hot-wired the ignition, and took off. Hubby was all packed to go on a trip to Western Nebraska today and everything is gone. Clothes, shoes, everything.

Sigh...

The only good thing I see in this whole ordeal is that the truck was paid off - we don't have to pay on something we no longer own.

So it's an early morning for me - just nearing 6:05 a.m. My daughter is already up. I think both of us are going to need naps tonight!

  1. Oh that's terrible. We had our car stolen once (dad dropped his keys in the yard while on his way out on a fishing trip). It's such a surreal feeling, not quite like having the house robbed, but disconcerting and very inconvenient. But like you said, at least it's paid for.

  2. How awful! Especially with all his stuff in the car too. It's like a double whammy.

  3. Yup - and he keeps remembering things he had in there. His satellite radio, cell phone, title to his motorcycle, CD's, even his work boots.

Doesn't insurance cover something? I had my car stolen a couple of years ago. Ended up getting the car back, but not all my stuff in it.

That is horrible. I hope the police are able to track them down and maybe you'll get the other stuff back, too.

  6. We only had liability on that vehicle, so I doubt that we'll have coverage on his stuff. :-(

  7. Yikes!!! It's an awful feeling - we had a car stolen about 10 years ago. Got it back, minus some stuff in the trunk.

Your poor DH. That really sucks. Hopefully they'll find it!!

What a Difference a Day (or Two) Made...

Dinah Washington sings a wonderful tune called "What a Difference a Day Made." While the lyrics are romantic in nature, it perfect...
